Sea Base - St. Thomas
June 12-19, 2016
St. Thomas, USVI
St. Thomas, USVI
We started our day at 3:30 in the morning at the airport. We took a plane from CLE to JFK airport, then from JFK to St Thomas. We then did some sightseeing around St. Thomas. There were a lot of chickens roaming around the streets. We had dinner then headed back to the hotel for the night. The next day, we walked across the island to look at some stores and get lunch. We did some more sightseeing and finally headed over to the docks to get on the boat. There were a lot of iguanas where we had to wait. We loaded onto the boat, and set off into the sea! We stopped to learn how to use some equipment, then took our swimming test. We snorkeled for a while, then got back on the boat for the night. We had an Italian-Seafood dinner (seafood spaghetti and salad). The next day, we learned how to use the sail to steer the boat. We took a hike and did some more snorkeling. We had Mexican for dinner that night. Over the next few days, we took some long hikes (longest one was Ram’s Head), did some snorkeling, hiked to a convenient store for some overpriced ice cream, did a lot more snorkeling, fished, and cooked. On the final day, we snorkeled, headed back to the island, cleaned up, washed the boat, and restocked the food. We headed up the road to eat some pulled pork sandwiches, then played dominos and Uno with some of the crew from another boat. The next morning, he headed to the St Thomas airport and flew back to JFK. Our plane from JFK to CLE got delayed, so we roamed around the airport and played cards while we waited. We then flew back to the Cleveland airport and went back home. The sailors for this adventure were Ian, Kyle, Trevor, Adam, Dylan, Mr. Karpowicz, and Mr. Nenadovich.
