On January 11 we drove out to Beaumont. It was surprisingly easy to set up our personal stuff in the cabin. The adults went to work cooking us dinner as the scouts started practicing knots and preparing for the actual challenges. The next day we got up early, finished preparing for the challenges, and ate breakfast. Then at the main lodge, we got our medicine (eggs) and our schedule for the day. We participated in 6 challenges plus lunch. The six challenges were a nitroglycerin carry, rope bridge, fire by friction, sensory challenge, knot baseball, and a model train logic puzzle.
We had walking tacos for lunch and a casserole for dinner. After dinner, we went to the main lodge to see our results and get some prizes. The Flaming Phoenix patrol placed 7th and the Deadly Dragons placed 1st out of 21 patrols. The prizes we decided on were a cabin campout at Firelands, a wheeled water jug, and a compact duster. On Sunday we surprised everyone with how fast we packed up. Those attending were Ben, Luke, Malcolm, Max, Sam, Ayden, Nick, Michael, Andrew, RJ, Alex, Thomas, Mr. Bazan, Mr. Knapp, Mr. Radd, Mr. Scoville, and Mr. Wrabel.
