The troop took a trip out to Firelands Scout Reservation to work on scout skills and have some fun. The majority of us stayed in the Shroeder cabin with the rest pitching a tent outside. When morning broke we woke up and raised the flag and then had breakfast followed by clean up. For our first skill of the day we learned about lightweight stoves and how to use them from safety precautions to lighting and stowing. Next up was knot tying and either relearning or learning for the first time the basic knots like two half hitches, taut line hitch, clove hitch, bowline, etc. We then took a hike and along the way used our newly found knowledge of lightweight stoves to cook a meal on the trail. After lunch we continued hiking until stopping at the campfire ring to sing songs and see skits that needed a little more work. Upon returning back to the cabin we learned that we had hiked 7-8 miles of camp trail and road. We had enough time to work on our first aid skills before dinner. You can bet that everyone was hungry and ready for dinner after that hike. With dinner complete we lowered the flag and then relaxed by playing cards or other activities. This was a great camp out to get requirements signed off or refresh your scout skills. Honing their skills were Joe, Christian, JohnLuke, Mark, Sam, Seth, Ayden, Zachary, Drew, Jacob, Adam, Michael, Nick, Ian, Mr. Botzman, Mr. Deran, Mr. Jaegers, Mr. Knapp, Mr. Kneblewicz, Mr. Nenadovich, and Mr. Smith.
