The troop had a small group join together for fun and service at the Monastery. After a short rain on Friday evening we setup camp, had a snack and then gathered for some campfire games. After a good night's sleep we awoke and had breakfast. It was then time for a few service projects. The scouts worked on clearing weeds and cleaning up the outdoor chapel while the adults worked to repair a riding mower. All projects were completed in time for lunch. When lunch was finished we searched the woods for spars to build a troop gateway to be used at future events. It was a big task, but by working together we were able to find all the needed pieces. After a short break we began reviewing and understanding the competitions for the Camporee in September. We even did a few walk throughs of the events. Will did a great job with all the meals. No one went away hungry with a filling and nutritious Dinner cooked over an open fire. Once clean-up was complete there was some free time followed by a game of capture the flag out in the field. Mr. & Mrs. Mayher brought out ice cream for a delicious treat. Then it was time for another round of campfire games. We were having such a good time that we ended up going to bed later than usual. In the morning we woke up and broke camp in a timely fashion. A quick breakfast and we were ready to police the area and head for home. Those joining in on this trip were James(1), John, Nick, Steven, Will, Mr. Dzurnak, Mr. Makowski, and Mr. Wrabel. Visitors Mr. & Mrs. Mayher and Stephen M.
There was some sad news at the end of our campout. Late in the evening Sister Agnes was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She passed away shortly after arrival. Sr. Agnes was a great supporter of scouting and always welcomed our troop to the monastery. May she rest in peace and be eternally blessed.
